Children’s Day is celebrated on the 14th of November in India in the memory of Jawaharlal Nehru, who was born on November 14, 1889.It is celebrated by the teachers and students in the schools and colleges with great passion and excitement. It is celebrated with lots of events and activities performed by the kids. School buildings get decorated with multicolor paints, colorful balloons and other decorative materials. Peoples also distribute gifts like clothes, toys and books to orphan children on this day.
In different countries Children’s Day is celebrated on different dates. So United Nations decided to celebrate Universal Children’s Day on 14th of November. But after the death of Jawaharlal Nehru in 1964, it was unanimously decided to celebrate his birthday as Bal Diwas in the country due to his love and affection towards children. He liked very much to be among children as well as talk and play with them. Children were used to of calling him as Chacha Nehru to show their love and respect.
He was a great visionary and a brilliant man. He has done a lot for the future of youths. He has created educational institutes like Indian Institutes of Technology and AIIMS. He also made a five-year plan that comprises free primary education, and free meals plus milk to the school children with the intention of preventing children from malnutrition in India. This is why the children loves him so much and celebrates his birthday as Children’s Day.
Children’s day is just not a birth anniversary, it is celebrated to create a strong and energetic youth, which lead the future of India and take them to the new heights of success.
