Mumbai is one of the busiest place in India. Thousands of people used to travel in day via buses or local trains. To overcome these problems government of Maharastra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnatka has tie up with Virgin Hyperloop One (VHO) to built hyperloop travel routes in their cities.
What is Hyperloop ?
Hyperloop is a pod-based terrestrial transportation system which can carry passengers or freight through a near-vacuum tube at airline speeds. Though the ‘hyperloop’ concept is the brainchild of tech billionaire Elon Musk, there are many other startups developing pod-based transport through near-vaccum tubes. The hyperloop mode uses technology in which a vehicle in a special tunnel floats above the track, using magnetic levitation, at a top speed of over 1,000 km per hour.
How this will help ?
Earlier it takes almost 3 hours to travel from Navi Mumbai to Pune. With the help of Hyperloop trains you can reach in just 13 minutes ( as stated in TOI ). Also it will cost you less than Air-fare. “The 100km line between Navi Mumbai and Pune will cost around Rs 26,000 crore, which is lower than the cost of an underground Metro,” said Nick Earle, senior vice president of VHO’s global field operations.
